my first and most recent portrait.

All the stuff I posted previously was at a time when I was just getting the hang of using a paintbrush, getting accustomed to numerous mediums, and learning about color theory. I can honestly say that I have gotten much much better and am progressing in ways that I never thought I would achieve. I suppose when I finished this one a couple months ago I felt like I did a meaningful piece of work. This one is acrylic on canvas tile.

  1. I like this one a lot. I've be spending some time getting acquainted with a paint brush as well (although sometimes I cheat and use my fingers; it's fun).

  2. Looks pretty good, I think you did a good job of choosing a subject and style of art that was within your reach for success. Overextending can just make you feel like shit when you fuck up.

Keep at it, I look forward to seeing you progress to bigger and better things.

  4. There is a noir feel on this, it's like the whole painting was made of pure smoke. Excellent job, Bublee.
